About the Gardens

Each year, thousands of visitors step back in time to discover the 1880's Victorian Farmhouse and country gardens that comprise the Hulda Klager Lilac Gardens. The national historic site is located 30 minutes north of Portland, Oregon and 2-1/2 hours south of Seattle, Washington...

The Hulda Klager Lilac Gardens is a restoration project to honor the work of famed lilac developer Hulda Klager. It contains an 1800s house, surrounding buildings and is a National Historic Site. Visit the house, museum/barn with many new exhibits only open during Lilac Days and other specialty days. Annually, Lilac Days celebrates the site, Hulda’s work and raises funds to maintain the site. LILAC DAYS 2026 – During Lilac Days the gardens are open daily 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. House is open 1pm to 4pm (groups of 15, every 15 minutes), but only during Lilac Days and other special events. Admission $10 adults, kids 12 and under free (cash and card accepted.) Upcoming 2026 Senior Citizen Day is Monday, May 4 with a discounted rate of $5.00 for age 62 and above. The lilac plant sale [link to plant sales page] is open daily during Lilac Days and plants are available for purchase. There are picnic tables and benches throughout the garden for use by guests. You may bring in a picnic to enjoy in the gardens (no bbq’s please). The grounds and museum are handicap accessible. Pets are not allowed in the garden.

AFTER LILAC DAYS (May 11th to early October, 2026), the gardens are open 9am to 4pm (gates close 3:30pm). Members get in free! The house and museum are CLOSED, but for groups, reservations can be arranged in advance. Admission fees for 2026 are $10 adults, CASH payable at the front gate in Dropbox. Children 12 years old and under enter free when accompanied by an adult. *Please see the Calendar at our website for current hours and closures. Note: the Gardens are Closed on Holidays and a few other select days.
